Professional Heating Services specialise in Central Heating Services and Boiler Repair or Replacement.
Boilers account for about 55% of what you spend in a year on energy bills so an efficient boiler makes a big difference. Replacing a G-rated boiler with an A-rated boiler and full set of central heating controls could save around £340 and 1,500kg of carbon dioxide a year.
Boiler servicing should take place every 12 months, firstly for safety and the well-being of occupants, and secondly to ensure that you get the maximum amount of value for the money you spend on gas. A badly serviced boiler or one that lacks maintenance can lose 50 pence or more on wastage for every £1 you spend. A correct servicing and maintenance program for your central heating and boiler will ensure you run the appliance safely and cost efficiently.
On completion of your boiler servicing your boiler/appliance will be turned on and run to its maximum output. From here, manufacturer’s gas rates and burner pressures will be tested and adjusted. On condensing boilers, air gas ratios will be set. All boilers will be analysed to conform to manufacturers settings.
Finally, you are given a written report on the condition of the gas pipework, meter installation, boiler condition and faults found along with ventilation requirements (if any) flue gas analysis. In addition, most importantly if the boiler service was successful and is safe for you and your family to use.
If it is a new boiler you require, then one of our experts will come out to your property and carry out a full survey of your heating system. We will assess your heating system to see if it needs power flushing and check the condition of the controls i.e. Pump and 3 port to see if they are operating correctly. We will also check to see if the gas pipe to the boiler is a sufficient size as this is very important when it comes to boiler servicing. After we have accessed the heating system, we will then advise you on what size boiler your property needs and what type. We always recommend installing a filter on the heating system as this gives the boiler extra protection and will save you money on your energy bills and limit the number of times you will have to have your boiler serviced. Once your boiler is installed, we fill the heating system and do a full flush out of the system. When we are satisfied that the water is clean enough, we add Inhibitor to protect the boiler from corrosion and limescale.
If it were a combi boiler, we would always advise a scale reducer is install onto the mains water pipe going into the boiler, as this will protect the plate heat exchanger from limescale build up. Without one installed then the plate heat exchanger will become blocked and the boiler will not produce any hot water, resulting in the need for boiler servicing, so it is vital to always install one.
